M. Zulfiquer Hossain, PhD, Research Technology Specialist, Advanced Genomics and Cell Models, MilliporeSigma
November 13, 2020
1:00 PM (EDT) to 2:00 PM (EDT)
Registration Deadline: November 12, 2020 9:00 AM (EDT)

Dr. Hossain received his B.S. in Biology and Biochemistry from Brandeis University and his Ph.D. in Molecular Medicine from the University of Maryland under the Graduate Partnerships Program (GPP) with the National Institutes of Health (NIH). He has over 10 years of biomedical research experience, both as a pre-doctoral fellow at the NIH, where he discovered novel roles for β-catenin and TCF in T cell development, function, and aging, and as a post-doctoral fellow at the Johns Hopkins University, where he identified novel DNA-damaging polyphenols  in foods and flavorings. His research has been published in several journals including Cell Stem Cell, Nature Immunology, Oncotarget, and Journal of Immunology. He brings extensive knowledge of molecular, cancer and stem cell biology, epigenetics and immunology, as well as teaching experience as an Associate Professor at BRAC University. As a Research Technology Specialist with MilliporeSigma, Dr. Hossain leads technical seminars and workshops, generates application data and supports cutting-edge tech platforms in genomics, cellular analysis, and molecular biology.

Throughout his career, Mac has been assisting researchers design and implement various next-generation sequencing projects from inception through data analysis.

Enzymatic Methyl-seq (EM-seq™): A New Option for 5mC and 5hmC Identification

Siva Chavadi, PhD, Senior Field Application Scientist, New England Biolabs
August 28, 2020
1:00 PM (EDT) to 2:00 PM (EDT)
Registration Deadline: August 27, 2020 at 9:00 AM (EDT)

Dr. Siva Chavadi joined New England Biolabs as a Senior Field Application Scientist focusing on NEBNext products. Prior to NEB, Siva managed multiple NGS projects from conception to data delivery while working at GENEWIZ as a Senior Study Manager. Siva has received his Ph.D. from the University of Hyderabad, India. For his graduation and postdoctoral work, he has utilized functional genomics as a tool to develop novel diagnostics, anti-bacterials and vaccines against tuberculosis. During this time, Siva utilized NGS based assays as a high throughput method for screening bacterial mutants.
