BIOF 090 | MATLAB Fundamentals

Registration occurs on a first-come, first-served basis. NIH Fellows or NIH community members being sponsored by their lab and awaiting payment authorization can tentatively hold a seat using the “Reserve A Seat” option. Payments need to be received within 7 business days from date of reservation or before the start of a workshop, whichever comes first. Seat reservations will be canceled if payment is not received prior to workshop.

Objectives
MATLAB is a high-level language that enables you to quickly perform computation and visualization through easy-to-use programming constructs. 

This three-day course provides a comprehensive introduction to the MATLAB® technical computing environment. No prior programming experience or knowledge of MATLAB is assumed. Themes of data analysis, visualization, modeling, and programming are explored throughout the course.

Computer (PC or Mac) and an internet access are required. Simultaneous access to two screens is highly recommended for best learning experience. Examples include two laptops, one computer with two screens, one laptop and one tablet, etc. A headset is also recommended​.

Class size is limited to 25 students.

Course Materials 
Each attendee receives e-files of the course manual, a unique code to login to a virtual lab, and a link to join the WebEx. A test session to connect to WebEx and a virtual lab will be provided one day before the training from 9-10 am (tentative).

FAES will share your email address as provided during the registration process with MathWorks who will grant you a temporary MATLAB access and provide the training.

Certificates of Completion
Certificates of completion from MathWorks are emailed to all attendees at the end of each course.

Continuing Education Units
Although no grades are given for courses, each participant will receive Continuing Education Units (CEUs) based on the number of contact hours.  One CEU is equal to ten contact hours. Upon completion of the course, each participant will receive a certificate for 2.1 CEUs.

Refund Policy
100% tuition refund for registrations canceled 14 or more days prior to the start of the workshop.
50% tuition refund for registrations canceled between 4 to 13 days prior to the start of the workshop.
No refund will be issued for registrations canceled 3 days or less prior to the start of the workshop.

Notification
All cancellations must be received in writing via email to Ms. Carline Coote at registrar@faes.org.
Cancellations received after 4:00 PM on business days are time marked for the following day. 
All refund payments will be processed by the start of the initial workshop.

Course Cancellation Policy
FAES reserves the right to cancel this workshop up to 3 calendar days prior to the course start date. Notifications will be emailed immediately upon cancellation and a tuition refund will be issued. FAES will make every effort to retain posted courses. We encourage the purchase of refundable travel reservations in the event that a course is canceled.
