FAES Open Enrollment September 14th to 25th

FAES Open Enrollment | 2020-2021 Plan Year
AETNA Signature Administrators-PPO
Effective November 1, 2020

Since 1959 the Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences (FAES) has been working to support the professional and educational mission of the National Institutes of Health. This support has included a health insurance program for select members of the NIH community over the past several decades. We have made many changes over the years with the end goal of ensuring a robust and sustainable plan and continue to review options to enhance our plan offering.

NEW MetLife Dental and Vision Plans

We are pleased to announce the addition of robust and comprehensive dental and vision plans through MetLife effective November 1, 2020 for all FAES insurance subscribers. The new dental and vision plans will be bundled with the medical plan and Fellows will not pay for the monthly premiums.  Plan details can be found in the 2020-2021 Benefit Guide.

Previously, an optional MetLife TakeAlong Dental plan was available for Fellows to purchase and monthly premiums were paid by the Fellows directly to MetLife. Please note, if you elected to purchase the optional dental coverage you will need to make sure to cancel your policy effective October 31, 2020.

FAES will continue to offer the Trustmark/AETNA Signature Administrators PPO plan for the 2020-2021 plan year and we are happy to announce that no coverage changes were made for the new plan year.

If you are currently enrolled and choose to remain on the medical plan for the new plan year, you will automatically be enrolled in the dental and vision plan effective November 1, 2020; you do not need to fill out new paperwork.  Since this is bundled coverage in all three plans: Medical/Prescription, Dental and Vision, there is no option to opt out of any one portion of the plan.

Open Enrollment Sessions

Open Enrollment will be from September 14 to 25, 2020. FAES will be hosting daily virtual Open Enrollment sessions via Zoom. Please attend one of these sessions to learn about the plan offerings.

            September 14th through September 25th at 3pm.
