September 30, 2016

8:00am - 4:30pm

Mid-Atlantic Diabetes Research Symposium hosted by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK)

Background

The 2016 Annual Mid-Atlantic Diabetes Research Symposium is co-sponsored by the Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Obesity Branch (DEOB) at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), National Institutes of Health (NIH); the Mid-Atlantic Nutrition Obesity Research Center (NORC) at the Department of Medicine, University of Maryland; the Johns Hopkins University-University of Maryland Diabetes Research Center (JHU-UMD-DRC); and the Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences (FAES) at the NIH.

Meeting Objectives

The purposes of this meeting are to encourage collaborations and enhance interactions at the regional level through the sharing of both reagents and expertise. This year’s format will comprise welcoming comments by NIDDK Director Dr. Griffin P. Rodgers; five invited lectures; six short, hot-topic talks (selected from the abstracts); and two “poster blitz” sessions inclusive of all posters.

Les Salans (former director, NIDDK) and Jesse Roth (former scientific director, NIDDK) will chair the oral presentations. Space will be available for up to 40 posters.

Breaks will be long enough to view the posters and renew acquaintances, and a 1.5-hour lunch break will feature good food at a reasonable price and a comprehensive poster session. Registration (no fee required), abstract submission, and lunch purchase are available through the symposium website. Early registration is encouraged.
