University of Maryland Jazz Quintet

The NIH Clinical Center and the Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences are pleased to announce a jazz performance by The University of Maryland Jazz Quintet on Thursday, March 23rd at 12:00pm in the Clinical Research Center (Bldg. 10) Atrium.

The Quintet includes Chris Vadala, saxophone and flute; Gerry Kunkel, guitar; John Previti, acoustic bass; Griffith Kazmierczak, trumpet; and, Joey Antico, drums. The group will perform a mix of familiar standards and original compositions.

NIH Pi Day 2017

This year's Pi Day celebration was postponed due to inclement weather on March 14. Events will now be held on May 18, 2017. See the schedule below for full details.

Pi Day is an annual celebration of the irrational number Pi, 3.14..., on March 14. On Pi Day and every day, NIH recognizes the importance of building a diverse biomedical workforce with the quantitative skills required to tackle future challenges.

Please join us at the Building 10 CRC Atrium on Tuesday, March 28 for a National Symphony Orchestra Ensemble Performance.

National Symphony Orchestra at the NIH on September 19, 2017

The NIH Clinical Center and the Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences are pleased to announce a concert by the full National Symphony Orchestra on Tuesday, September 19th at 1:30 pm in the Clinical Research Center (Bldg. 10) Atrium. 

The orchestra will perform works by Beethoven, Ellington/Gould, Anderson, Williams, Bach/Stokowski, Séjourne, Copland and Brahms. The performance is a part of the NSO’s Sound Health program and will feature Steven Reineke as conductor, with William Gerlach on trumpet and Eric Shin on vibraphone.

Scientific Writing Workshop

GRAD 500 Writing and Publishing a Scientific Paper Workshop

This four-week, writing-intensive workshop is designed for NIH trainees and biomedical scientists at all levels. Participants will write a draft of a research paper based on data generated from their current or previous study for publication in a peer-reviewed science journal.

Pre-Clinical Academy

Grad 300 Pre-Clinical Academy: Introduction to the Medical History and Physical Exam (11 weeks)

This 11-week non-credit bearing course will introduce students to the most important concepts in medical history and physical exam (H&P) through peer practice physical examination. The course is intended to aid students in contextualizing anatomy lessons as well as prepare students for medical school H&P courses.   

The practicum exam will be modeled off of the Step Clinical Skills exam that medical students are expected to pass prior to graduation.
